I am on 2019 macbook pro- Monterey. After installing the driver and not seeing the 10/100/1000 LAN option and trying restarting+shutting down. Here is what worked: with computer runnning, unplug dongle from the mac and plug back into the port that is right next to it. Then in network I saw the LAN option and it works.
**UPDATE 2: ASIX has provided a final release driver for use with macOS 10.15.3 (Catalina) only due to updated notarization requirements from Apple as of February 2, 2020. After thorough vetting and testing in coordination with ASIX, we have updated our download links to this 2.16.0 final release build from the previous 2.15.0 and 2.15.0-Beta 1 builds both on this blog post and our driver page for affected devices.

**UPDATE 1: ASIX has provided a final release driver for use with macOS 10.15 (Catalina) only. After thorough vetting and testing in coordination with ASIX, we have updated our download links to this 2.15.0 final release build from the previous Beta 1 build both on this blog post and our driver page for affected devices.
The installation of macOS 10.15 Catalina will disable older drivers for some devices and devices which rely on these drivers will no longer function until a compatible driver is reinstalled. Most Plugable products are not affected by this, with the exception of our USB Ethernet adapters that use ASIX Gigabit Ethernet chips (models: USBC-E1000, USB3-E1000, USB2-E1000, and USB2-E100).
macOS 10.15 (Catalina), is nearly here, and with it come some new Application and driver requirements. For additional details about the new DriverKit model and the transition to 64-bit application requirements, check out our other Catalina blog posts here and here. While these are positive changes for the Mac ecosystem, the new driver requirements in Catalina will take time to get used to for some driver developers. In the short term some products will have a less user-friendly installation process as driver developers adapt to these changes. The vast majority of Plugable products that work in previous versions of macOS will continue to do so without incident in Catalina. However, USB Ethernet adapters (from Plugable and others) that use ASIX chips can pose the following challenges:
Because of challenges with the beta ASIX driver installation process in 10.15, we will no longer officially recommend our ASIX-based Gigabit Ethernet adapters on macOS Catalina until ASIX has developed an updated driver version with a less cumbersome installation process.
Click the button below to download the drivers, and see the step-by-step instructions in the next section that document the driver installation and macOS Gatekeeper approval process for our USB3-E1000 and USBC-E1000 adapters, which both use the ASIX AX88179 chipset.
Are adapters from other brands affected by the Catalina update as well?Yes, the latest macOS Catalina update will affect any adapters with ASIX chipsets as drivers are not included in macOS and require installation by all customers upgrading to Catalina
I have an adapter from another manufacturer and it won't work. Can I use your steps and drivers?Sorry for the trouble! No, unfortunately not. The troubleshooting steps and drivers we have are only for the USB3-E1000, and USBC-E1000 adapters that we manufacture. We would suggest to reach out to the manufacturer of your adapter directly for support.
Will users who upgrade to Catalina with the older ASIX drivers installed get an error message?Unfortunately, not, the drivers will silently fail to load and no error messages will be presented to any user of incompatible drivers.
Click the button below to download the drivers for macOS 12.x Monterey. Then, scroll down to the Installation Instructions section for instructions to uninstall the current driver before installing the latest version.
Click the button below to download the drivers, and then scroll down to the new Update for M1 Systems, and macOS 11.5.1+ or macOS 12 Monterey section for instructions to uninstall the current driver before installing the latest version.
Specifically, for Plugable (and other major brands), the new driver architecture caused compatibility issues with USB Ethernet adapters featuring the ASIX AX88179 chipset used in our USB3-E1000 and USBC-E1000 adapters, among others. While we take their plug and play functionality for granted, Ethernet drivers are complex, and building stable, performant drivers on the new DEXT architecture and the requisite new code signing process, was not a trivial task.
(Please note, these drivers have only been tested by Plugable with the USB3-E1000 and USBC-E1000 adapters that we manufacture. If you have an adapter from another manufacturer and encounter issues with this driver, we recommend reaching out to them if you encounter any issues, though we encourage people to leave comments about their experiences below for the benefit of others.)
Are Ethernet Adapters from other brands affected by this OS update?Yes, all brands of USB Ethernet Adapters that use ASIX chips and drivers are affected. This includes Amazon, Anker, Dell, Uni, UGREEN, Cable Matters, etc. Regardless of brand, if the adapter uses ASIX USB to Ethernet technology that requires external driver installation for a network connection, it will no longer function as expected after updating to macOS 11 without a DEXT Driver Extension as ASIX has provided.
Is this a temporary or permanent situation? We expect that with the new DEXT driver solution, there should be minimal impact on the utilization of ASIX AX88179-based Ethernet adapters going forward. In addition, this driver package should remain long-term functional outside of any behaviors potentially introduced via a macOS update.
Are there any other options to add a wired network connection to my macOS 11 system?Yes! Wired Ethernet solutions utilizing common Realtek ICs are fully functional as they rely on drivers built into the OS and require no further installation from an end-user.
After csrutil command, I typed my username and password which one has Administrator access and I rebooted my Apple Silicon. Now time is to install the chipset driver to macOS Big Sur. I checked the chipset name on System Report and I see the chipset name is AX88179.
Gently open the box where the ethernet cable is plugged in and check the id above the chip. Search and download proper drivers from the manufacturer and enable it. There another collection of generic drivers available for this kind of device in this link.
Great post, thanks a lot.I had to walk through the last step and downloaded the driver for my MacBook Pro (late 2012) with High Sierra for AX88772B (in Goobay product USB 2.0 fast ethernet network converter, b.t.w. it says in system overview it is/has USB 3.0 bus) at =105&sub=driverdetailAnd it works!!! ?
Another common chip type in cheap USB Ethernet adapters is RealTek RTL815x. I had a spesific use case: the Ethernet port was dead in my old Mac (OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard), and I needed more USB ports. On the Mac, some information about the chips may be found with System Profiler, item USB. My adapter is LENTION 3 USB Port Hub + RJ45 Lan Adapter (USB 2.0 and Ethernet 10/100). The driver RealTek provides now (2019) is RTUNICv1.0.17. It does not work with Snow Leopard and/or chips in the adapter. An older version of RealTek driver is found and it works with Snow Leopard and the chips in the adapter, namely RTUNICv1.0.10 and v1.0.11
The old drivers still work, no problem, but are being blocked in Yosemite because they aren't "signed" properly, since they weren't re-issued for Yosemite. As "unsigned" drivers, Mac OS refuses to load them, saying they constitute a security hazard.

The csrutil disable step turns off SIP for your entire system, which allows you to load and use the drivers. This also disables malware protection for your machine, and given that we've started to see genuine malware for OS X in the wild, it's a slightly larger security risk than it was in Yosemite.
If you purchased an OEM branded server or appliance, contact your OEM for a SW driver version that is compatible with your exact FW version. Using SW and FW versions that have not been validated to work together will affect performance, feature availability, and system stability.
This. zip file contains all of the Intel Ethernet network drivers and software for currently supported versions of Windows*, Linux*, and FreeBSD* for most Intel Ethernet Adapters. Not all Intel Ethernet Adapters and Intel Ethernet Controllers are supported under every version of Windows, Linux, or FreeBSD.This is a large file. We recommend downloading smaller files for your operating system if you don't need software for every OS.
